Guidance Department

The KYHS Guidance Department provides social/emotional support for students as they navigate the challenges of adolescence and the high school experience.

Experienced clinicians guide students through relationships, behaviors, feelings, and healthy decision making as they relate to and impact the learning experience. This is accomplished through close collaboration with students, staff, parents, and community mental health professionals. Additionally, the team works closely with student advisors who periodically check-in with students individually and in group settings.

The team facilitates the Botvin 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦𝘚𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘴 Training Program, an evidence-based curriculum focused on managing emotions, health, decision-making, substance abuse, media, and relationships.

We operate with an open-door policy and our students are comfortable stopping by to discuss their day, to share their accomplishments, and to seek help for their everyday struggles in a supportive and confidential environment.
